Глагол to be в Past Simple

В прошедшем простом времени (Past Simple) у глагола to be две формы: was ― для единственного числа и were ― для множественного (а также для местоимения второго лица you в значении и «ты», и «Вы»). Напоминаем: глаголу to be не нужен никакой вспомогательный глагол для отрицательного или вопросительного предложения. В вопросе was или were ставится перед подлежащим.

Упражнение 4.  Вставьте формы глагола BE в Past Simple в контексте темы «Мой дом. Home.»

Запомните выражения:

1. What time is it? — It is 5 o’clock. — Сколько времени? — Пять часов.
2. It is time to go.  — I know. —  Пора идти. — Я знаю.
3. Your watch is slow. — I know. — Твои часы отстают. — Я знаю. 

Упражнение 5. Вставьте формы глагола BE в Past Simple в контексте темы «My Home».

My mother … nervous last Saturday. The weather … cold and rainy.  Her children … not at home. They … not in the garden. They … not in the yard. She thought where they could  … and became worried more and more.

Father …. at home too. But he … not nervous. He … lying on the sofa and reading a newspaper because the TV … broken. He … calm.

The house …. not clean. The kitchen … not clean too. There … dirty dishes on the kitchen table. The sink … full of dirty plates, cups and glasses.  There  … no food in the fridge. There … no vegetables, there … no juice. There … not even bread in the house. Mother … nervous and did nothing.

Упражнение 6.

Вопросы с глаголом BE в Past Simple задавать очень легко! Он просто ПЕРЕСТАВЛЯЕТСЯ (так же как и в Present Simple).

ОБРАЗЕЦ. He was at the party last Sunday. — WHERE (в.сл) was he last Sunday? 

They were at the concert last week.

1. Where …?
2. When…?
3. Who … with?
4. Who…? (вопрос к подлежащему)

Упражнение 7. Переведите предложения в Past Simple Tense на английский язык.
